More than 20 smart participants of the International Mathematics Modeling Challenge (IMMC) who came from different colleges in China and Taiwan visited Smart City Innovation Centre together with their teachers on 3 August. After a warm welcome by Principal Engineer Dr Kent Wu, Senior Engineers Dr Liu Yang, Dr Peter Xiang and Dr Edmond Chiu from Intelligent Software and Systems Division and Director (Technical Marketing) Mr Dennis Lee of ASTRI, the participants were briefed on a number of ASTRI technologies including algorithm trading, Robo-Advisor, Blockchain, hand tracking for gesture control and video monitoring system. They were deeply impressed by the smart city related technologies such as connected car (V2V and V2X), VR/AR head mount display with gesture control, mixed language chatbot and smart water meter. The participants shared that the visit has not only broadened their horizon but also inspired them on how mathematics can be applied to real life and bring benefit to mankind.
