SEMINAR: Rohde & Schwarz Technology Day 2017 in Hong Kong

Topic: Advancements in technology; enabling the transition towards a fully connected world with 5G, IoT and V2X.

Seminar Overview

5G is no longer something to think about in the future; the future is now!

RS04

The specifications and proof of concept trials are progressing rapidly and becoming the focus of the Telecommunications industry. Together with 5G, the Internet of Things (IoT) is another revolutionary approach to synchronize everything and everyone.

Furthermore, advancements in transportation such as autonomous vehicles are now becoming a reality. Presenting new challenges for both the Automotive and Wireless Communications Industries, new communications techniques are required between the vehicles and everything else; introducing the concept of Vehicle to Everything (V2X).

Our seminar aims to introduce the audience to the technologies under development for 5G, IoT (Internet of Things) and V2X.

Presentation Abstract (In presentation order)

From the Internet of some few Things to the Internet of Everything – What is next in IoT?

2:15pm – 3:00pm

Presented by Mr. Joerg Koepp

Let’s do a deep dive into one of the most exciting markets in our days – The Internet of Things. In this presentation we will explorer actual market trends and will explain the latest technologies trends enabling the industrial Internet of Things and the Internet of Cars. Let’s discover the world of automated driving and how V2x communication can help to make a vision reality.

The applications on 3D printing for mobile communication/IoT.

3:00pm – 3:45pm

Presented by Dr. Michael Leung

3D-printing (3DP) technology promises high added value in mobile communication and IoT applications. The rapid advancement of multi-material, direct digital manufacturing (DDM) technology is opening up new opportunities for innovative designs for printed electronics and antenna systems. The joint use of 5G/IoT technology with 3D-printed structures is very appealing for designing new smart mobile devices while maintaining cost-effectiveness.

V2X – Ready to turn Autonomous into Cooperative Driving?

3:45pm – 4:30pm

Presented by Mr. Holger Rosier

Digitization of the transportation domain holds out the prospect to enhance quality of life.
Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) communication is the underlying concept to take mobility to the next level in terms of safety, comfort and efficiency.
The speaker gives an insight into 3GPP based V2X technology solutions.

V2X – Ready to turn Autonomous into Cooperative Driving?

4:30pm – 5:15pm

Presented by Mr. Guenter Pfeifer

The next generation mobile network – 5G – is developing fast in the standardization body 3GPP. Target is to have a first specification ready by the end of 2017 and continue to specify for the IMT2020 submission at the World Radio Communication Conference WRC-19 in November 2019, in time for the first network rollouts.

This presentation is looking into the status in the 3GPP standardization as well as into ongoing worldwide trials and development. Further on it will touch on some of the measurement challenges that come along with 5G features such as AAS and mmWave and how to address them.
